Once in a life

This is a fictional love story, well sort of;

Jax had spent years believing he had things figured out. He woke up at six, brewed strong coffee, worked long hours, and always kept his world neatly organized. Love, he thought, was a story for other people—something he’d read about in books or glimpse in strangers’ smiles on the train. He had grown accustomed to the rhythm of his life: the steady click of his keyboard, the rustling of papers, and the soft hum of the fluorescent lights overhead. Every day felt like a well-scripted play, and Jax was the diligent lead actor, performing his part without deviation or improvisation.

Then one rainy Tuesday, Noemi appeared. She borrowed his umbrella while they waited for their coffees and, somehow, she never returned it—at least, that’s how Jax liked to tell the story. Noemi was a whirlwind—her laughter bright, her heart wide open, her questions unpredictable. She saw colors everywhere he’d seen only gray.

Jax fell fast, bewildered by how easily she tugged him out of his routine. With her, he danced under lamplight and learned the joy of getting caught in the rain. He listened more, worried less, and found himself wanting to linger in every moment instead of rushing to the next.

He had always been someone who planned his days down to the minute, who measured his life in checked boxes and completed tasks. But when she laughed—a sound that seemed to fill the whole room—Jax felt his careful order unravel in the best possible way. She pulled him onto crowded sidewalks and into quiet corners of coffee shops he never would have noticed before. Together, they tried food he couldn’t spell and wandered neighborhoods at midnight, letting curiosity lead them instead of a schedule.

Little by little, Jax felt his defenses soften. He started to notice things: the way the sunlight filtered through curtains in the early morning, the hush of the city before dawn, the warmth of her hand in his. He savored the taste of thunderstorms and impulsive road trips. There were times when he caught himself smiling for no reason at all—just because she was there, and everything felt lighter.

Under her influence, he discovered that life wasn’t all about efficiency or certainty. It was about catching raindrops on your tongue, sharing secrets with someone who listens, piling into bed without brushing your hair, and laughing so much your sides ache. For the first time in a long while, Jax wasn’t just passing the days—he was fully, unmistakably living them.Noemi took Jax’s life and turned it inside out—not with grand gestures but in the way she listened to him, the way she believed in him, the way she showed up when he least expected it. She reminded him that love isn’t something you schedule or plan. Sometimes, it just happens, and all you can do is fall—hoping someone wonderful will catch you.

Jax and Noemi didn’t share a storybook happily ever after, but what they found was something just as beautiful. As they softly recognized that their lives were pulling them along separate paths, their love remained gentle—full of lingering glances and unspoken promises. It captures the bittersweet beauty of parting ways while honoring a deep connection.

You know the song by James Blunt ” You’re Beautiful”. The end of that song sums up a lot for Jax.

Maybe true love has a different meaning for some. It is full of hope and promise. Promise of a tomorrow that could very well be better than yesterday. It’s a realization that even the most broken soul could find someone who could make sense of life again. Noemi did that for Jax. She would always be the face of hope and happiness.

For Jax, Noemi was the most unexpected thing. She was also the best thing, and he was grateful for her every single day. Few parts of this story are true, and the most important one is experiencing true love. Noemi was, is and always will be proof love exists even for those who do not believe in it.

the end (for now)
